DATE: July 23, 2002 TO: Finance & Insurance Managers and Office Managers FROM: Laura K. Reardon, CPS RE: Hartford GAP Claim Form Recently, the IAS/Hartford GAP claims department has noticed a large number of dealerships sending in GAP cancellation requests when trying to file a GAP claim. Please be advised that these are two separate procedures and require different information be sent to IAS/Hartford. When cancellation requests are submitted in error, this delays the claims process. Also, when a request is received from a lienholder to cancel warranties because a vehicle is a total loss, you need to confirm with the lienholder whether or not the insurance has paid off the loan. If it has, the GAP can be cancelled but, if the loan is not paid off, a GAP claim should be filed. To make the GAP claim filing process easier, a form has been designed for you to use when filing a GAP claim. It requires that certain information be submitted to IAS/Hartford such as customer name, GAP policy number and the phone number of the person submitting the claim. This form also provides IAS/Hartford contact information including mailing address, email address and the claims fax number. In addition, a list of other required documents can be found on this form. Remember, claims can also be filed at www.FasterClaims.com. This process is fast and easy and also provides a complete list of materials needed to file claims. Attached please find a GAP Claim Form to use when filing a claim. (This form can be copied as needed or we will be happy to forward you more - just call.) If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 813.223.0085, ext. 21. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to serve you. |
